We've all taken risks right?
Sometimes the biggest risks we take, result in the biggest growth and the most profound realisations. It puts the smaller everyday stuff into perspective, the things we may take for granted.
The cogs really started to turn when I started to travel on my own. A trip to Northern Ireland to climb Slieve Donnard for charity with some friends really was the tip of an ever growing iceberg. Believe it or not, navigating the airport was my biggest concern, after everything else, why was going through an airport such a biggie? Little did I know, this wee trip with a purpose was to be the start of something much bigger! Something that would help me redevelop that sense of wholeness and express my lust for and appreciation for "all life".
It started many years ago after a pretty serious illness and during the onset of another. It took a while for it all to fall into place, but I found my daily walks, just the tip of the iceberg and I credit in part my resilience, head space and indeed the start of my fitness journey to them.
The beauty of nature has more than just healing properties, it has many lessons that we can use to evolve more peacefully, allowing us to feel more whole and healthy. Not only that, but I now use these experiences to produce fine art and fine art photography to help inspire others.
Hi, I’m Sarah, an artist and all round creative from Newcastle upon Tyne.
I’ve had a varied life and my upbringing with extended family somewhat shaped my perception of the world around me. My route through education was not quite straight, battling loss, peer issues and illness. As a result, in starting to find my feet, I also found a love of travel. I prefer it not always to just be for the sake of a holiday, finding causes to engage with as I go. I’ve worked in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, conservation and education and with underprivileged communities. 2019 saw me return to Africa for the third time. I have a definite fondness for the continent and the adventures it brings and I guess a lot of my work just after these periods reflects this. I feel my heart and mind just open exponentially when I’m stood there connecting with nature in all of its visceral glory.
Truth be known, I’m inspired on various levels everywhere I go, be that in the bustling city heat, to the remotest wilderness. My work unfolds during periods of time, encapsulating those experiences of sentience and greater connection to all that surrounds by me. Having run my own sports and holistic therapy practice for 13 years, my deeper thinking of the bigger picture often comes into play. Expressed often through philosophy, ideas about harnessing self love and connection to the true self and empowerment, breaking down elements of detrimental social conditioning in order to perpetuate a more peaceful and equal wave through humanity, that will serve all sentient's more fairly.
My current work is in photography, though I am a painter at heart, I’m never without a camera and written word. Every piece of work has a story and unique insight, both on personal level and a broader relative spectrum, which I'd love to share with you.
An idealist, a pacifist maybe, but one with a vision that a kinder more accepting world is possible.
I‘m consumed with exploring the infinite potential of expression, obsessed with experiencing life and producing exciting and striking images to provoke thought and challenge perception.

My art has often been my saving grace, the stillness required for me to process what life has thrown at me. From my beginnings with a sketch pad, spending hours in hospital glass painting bottles, through my specialism in ceramics. I am an unapologetic creative, frequently teaming visuals with written word.
I use various media when I work, I use photography, and lightweight materials such as watercolour, graphite and pastel or even ink; especially during my more transient periods sometimes as a single entity, sometimes mixed. I've recently embraced oil as a painting medium, for it's luminescent qualities, however I'm not adverse to acrylic

I've recently embraced oil as a painting medium, for it's luminescent qualities, however I'm not adverse to acrylic in it's various guises and in particular for fast paced nocturne cityscapes and even a bit of sculpture as the mood and subject speaks.

I enjoy keeping fit, I need that physicality in my life, hiking, running, dancing and yoga provides the perfect opportunity to keep a balanced approach to my wellness and of course time for introspection, creating space for new ideas to blossom.
Much of my work is influenced by an undeniable sense of self, greater sentience and the perception of having a place in the world, a place where we all fit and the emotions and journey that go with that.
My work evolves from a seed of a thought and blooms into a collection dependent upon my surroundings, be that more urban, or the far flung corners of the African bush, where I just love to just embed myself in the visceral landscapes, exposing myself to the glory of nature.
If I were to credit anyone for my first dalliances with art, it would be thanks to the beautiful illustrative work of Shirley Hughes and Raymond Briggs, however I do love great masters Rembrandt, Turner and Monet for their use of light and ability to create a sense of mystery and almost ethereal magic in their work.
